One of the things I liked in the Navy was the humanitarian deeds we did. We picked up refugees. The children were so excited over getting balloons. It looked like it was the first time they had ever seen the colorful round items.

Cici Russo or Brooke Hutchenson plays by her own rules. She’s the daughter of a mafia boss, then she’s forced to take on the identity of a murder victim.
The book spans from 1960 to 1990. It took me back in time and brought back memories of those years.
The first part of the book is a raw look at the mafia world. The second is hiding from them. Both made tense and exciting reading.
A unique read with a first-person point of view.
CiCi told her no-hold bar story. Her entire life was a lie. That made her an interesting character. Brazen at times. Sneaky and cautious other times. Even as Brooke, she couldn’t let go of her mafia training. Strong woman.
I gave this story four-star instead of five because of the swear words throughout the book. The book kept my interest and I enjoyed it. I was on the edge of my seat at times.
Rating: Curse words sprinkled throughout the book. Sexual scenes – moderate graphic.

This book took me to the time when Jesus walked the earth. It’s very evident the author did a lot of research in writing this book. It felt as though I were there.

As the description says, Pericope is a strong-willed, has a wonderful sense of humor, and is hard working. She’s the perfect friend. Not everyone believes that, so heightens the tension. As a reader, I came to care about Pericope and those affiliated with her. The pages kept turning as I was curious as to what would happen next.
The Bible came alive within the pages of this book. Although this is fiction, I’ll never look at the passage in John the same again. I highly recommend this book to any serious student of the Bible or anyone who wants their life changed.
Pericope’s meeting with the master changed her life. The readers received a front-row view. I loved it and look forward to more stories in this series by Jeff.

I’ve known about this series for some time but chose not to read it. Nine Eleven affected every American. I wasn’t ready to revisit it until now.
As a reader, I knew it was coming. With each page turned I wondered if the next page would be painful. When the planes hit and the buildings collapsed, it felt like I was taking my daughter to school. We had just past the swimming pool when the radio announcer broke into the music I was listening to. The terror of that day came roaring back.
What a story. I usually cry in every Kingsbury book, but in this one, I shed more tears. Heart-wrenching twists, causing you to stop reading to catch your breath.
One sentence that affected me deeply: Cell phone rang at the bottom of the debris. I knew this meant loved ones calling someone that was missing.

I like the “feel” of being in school, and this book gave me that experience. My high school days weren’t the best, so in a way, I identify with the main characters. Bullying takes many forms. Verbal is the worst. The answer to this subject surprised me.
“Add, ‘I love you’ to any sentence, and you can say just about anything,” Kaeya.
I give 5-stars to books that leave a lasting impression on me. Fifteen Seconds of Normal did that, and more. I’ll miss the characters who delivered an important message of how to weather high school.
I turned the page and SHOCK. Talk about a whip-lashing twist.
Every middle school and high school student, every parent of a student, should read this book. Powerful message on how to combat bullying. I hope this author writes more books like this.

I have yet to read a Kingsbury book that I didn’t shed tears over. This one is no exception.
It brought back memories for me. Several years ago our oldest daughter, then twelve, was hospitalized over Christmas. Since it was in a hospital several hours from our home, my wife and I stayed there. We had to take turns staying at the hospital. On Christmas Eve it was my turn to stay at the motel. So lonely a place. I arrived at the hospital the next morning to find my wife and daughter still asleep in the midst of many Christmas presents. We never found out who filled the room with gifts but it made the ordeal so much better.
I cried as I read Gideon’s Gift, especially the incredible ending.

Kerry Branson, PI, inadvertently rescues a six-year-old boy named Tristan. -a son of a U.S. Senator.Other children are abducted, all children of powerful politicians.
This is a “buckle your seatbelts” read. The one word that comes to mind is “wow.” Action-packed, characters with grit.
The opening scene drew me right into the story. It began tense and grew in intensity. The bad guys were really bad, and the good guys, heroes.
I have a dozen children and couldn’t imagine the horrors of one of them abducted. This story became personable. I also have a son named, Tristan.
I enjoyed this book so much I lost sleep. When not reading “Going Gone,” I thought about the children and the characters. What an ending. I loved it, making Anita one of my favorite authors. I’m off to get her next book, Sentinels of the Night: A Tracker Novel

In a futuristic world, Portia becomes a spy in order to liberate captives and create a revolution. She’s a strong character, attempting to find her identity while others try to create it for her.The history of America is sprinkled into the story. (I love it.) Lesson learned in the book: Don’t forget the history of yesterday or the freedom that came from bloodshed will be gone.
There’s continual action throughout the book, creating tension that leaves you hanging onto every word. I found myself thinking of the story in between readings.
What is freedom? The truth shall set you free. Bible is injected into the story without sounding “religious.” (I love it.)
Great ending. Book number 3? Hope so!

I shed many tears over this book as it took me to those days of grief. The deepest love comes during the darkest times. God doesn’t take us around the valleys. He takes us through, and that travel causes deep pain. Pain only he can make beautiful like he does with a caterpillar.
Love happens when you forgive. I can’t say enough about this book. It’ll change you forever as it did me.

“I never thought of that,” was something I told myself after reading the accounts of characters in the Bible.
The words in this were at times difficult to take in. It’s like taking medicine, knowing I need it to get better but tasting bitter going down.
“Eye-opener,” another something I told myself. If anyone is facing temptation (that’s all of us) I recommend this book. It made me think and changed my thoughts on some characters in the Bible. People I put on a pedestal higher than I should have.
This book took me into the mind of Biblical characters. I found myself returning to the book because of spiritual appetite. The words and insight won’t soon leave my mind. In fact, I believe it’ll be there for a long time, if not longer.
