Navy

One of the things I liked in the Navy was the humanitarian deeds we did. We picked up refugees. The children were so excited over getting balloons. It looked like it was the first time they had ever seen the colorful round items.

A novel filled with interesting characters, exciting plot and page-turning enjoyment.

Three stories in one: Jenny tries to save her historical home and has to revisit her family’s history to do so.

And what a family heritage she has. Christabel loves a soldier who only wants to advance his own military
career. Victoria grieves a child who was taken from her.

I found myself zooming through the pages to find out the mysteries. (There were a few going on at a time.) Some of the discoveries were great, some not so much. A few were shocking.

I enjoyed this historical account of the mid-nineteenth century. Very Good.

Amazon Review: It’s a military thriller with a heart. Commander Mark Steele has an exciting job in Special Forces. Though it’s dangerous, he knows his work is critically important. But that job separates him from his wife and child. When an injury brings him home, his wife is glad to have him back. But other issues cause struggles within the family, leading to distrust and hurt. Steele takes dangerous risks in his new work. The thriller plot thickens, as he seeks to save a life. But can he save his family?

Jennifer O’Malley, Pedestrian, meets Tom Peterson. Love sparks.

This book played my heartstrings and left me wanting more. Jennifer and Tom are characters that one wants as neighbors. When Jennifer not only falls in love with Tom but also Jesus, the story moved to a higher level.

The feelings I had after the book were pure and good. I like that in a book. There’s no religious tone at all.

I can’t wait to read the series. I’m hooked.

Of all the book I’ve read, Jo Oliver is one of my favorite characters. Her down-to-earth, spit-fire personality makes her an exciting character.

The action starts right away on a golf course. Jo finds a dead body. Tension builds throughout the story, mysteries unfold in each chapter. She has to stop a serial killer. Jo and Nick set out to find him. The plot thickens when they discover it may be someone Nick knows.

Pulled into the vortex of her crazy-making world.

And “Yup.” “I had no idea why I was yupping,” says Jo. Clever Writing. I love it!

One section in the book I’m reminded of the television show, Criminal Minds.

Great 5-Star Read.   Amazon
I have enjoyed every book in this series.

The words slapped me in the face. Each setting after reading, I found myself thinking about the pages, eagerly wanting to get back to it.

Now, after finishing the last page, I suspect the words will be tossing repeatedly in my mind like clothes in a dryer.

Reading Demon: A Memoir has changed my mindset. Made me more keenly aware of reality.
As one reviewer stated: “I will not read to stories of Creation or Lucifer’s fall again without picturing the scenes described in Demon.” I agree. This book has changed my Bible reading.

Rebecca and Seth are in love. All is good until letters arrive from her father. She has inherited a position of power. She must return home, to a place Rebecca wanted to forget.

Enter a different realm, a place where the abstract becomes real and the unseen, seen. At times I thought this was a book by John Bunyan, Pilgrim’s Progress. (A classic allegory from 1678, and considered a significant work of English literature.)

In this story, unforgiveness was a powerful lesson, causing inner demons to materialize. The imagery jumped off the page.

I found myself caring for Rebecca and Seth. The love they had for one another can only be described as self-sacrificing and beautiful. No greater love does one have for another unless they lay their life down for the other. Sydney did a wonderful job portraying this love, in very expressive scenes.

There were twists I didn’t see coming, and the tension kept me reading. I found myself thinking about the characters in between readings. Great book and I look forward to the next one.

Sayings Found in the Book: “You may not be able to control your circumstances, but you can control your reactions to them.”
“Single-minded as a buzz saw.” Said of John Wesley Powell, the man who ventured into the Grand Canyon when thought to be impossible.
“I want my children to live according to their consciences, their convictions.”

Amaryllis, MS has secrets and a serial killer. Three women are positive they know who’s the killer and they all have proof.

I can’t get enough of Brandilyn’s books. Fast and swift. It’s a writing style I study, trying to emulate.

I especially loved the character of Cherrie Mae. Small, black woman, packed with a lot of spunk. I found myself cheering her on.  She didn’t have a problem taking on the most powerful people in her small town. Cherrie made things happen. Boy, did she make things happen.

This story spun me in so many directions. Just when I thought I figured out who done it, the plot twisted in a different direction. Whiplashed into reality. I loved it.

“Enough!” says
Julie.

She’s
overwhelmed with the “shoulds” from her family. Tired of “shoulding on herself,”
Julie takes action.

I loved this
story. Here’s a woman that refuses status quo and goes for life. There’s
miscommunication along the way that makes for a few comical scenes.

Then there was
Paris. I felt like I was there. Taking in every word, I read slowly during this
part.  Lost in the sights, sounds, and
smells, Paris came alive.

There was so
much in this book I enjoyed, vacations, cruises and love. What I enjoyed the
greatest: “Keep true to your values.” Not going to tell you if Julie did that,
but the message sounded loud and clear. Great read.

The Jack
Turner series got even better. After book 2, I didn’t think that possible, but id. Introduced are more members of Jack’s family. Renee, Jack’s Grandmother has an exciting story, set during World War II.
From the first bomb dropped on France, (Renee’s home) to Spitfire dogfights, the bombing
of London and the French resistance movement, the story kept me on the edge of my imagination. Tension, fear, love, hatred all experienced as the pages turned.

I couldn’t put the book down and lost sleep. Exciting and fast-paced story.

I felt like getting off this planet, so I picked up this book. There is so much to enjoy about this read. The fun characters. The zany plot. The twisty turns. I liked it all.

Natalie is adjusting to alien life. She finds her abductor’s veins turn different colors according to their emotions. Wondering how this would change life on earth, should everyone knew each person’s emotional state. Fun to consider.
